About arrow symbols
An arrow is the only symbol whose meaning is a direction. Unicode encodes hundreds: single and double shafts, tailed, hooked, harpoon, paired and circular, pointing at every point of the compass and most places between.
The commonest trap is weight: a thin arrow (→) and a heavy one (➔) are different characters with different voices, and the double arrows (⇒) belong to logic — 'implies' — as much as to direction. Keyboard arrows (↑ ↓ ← →) have their own codepoints, separate from the mathematical set.
