About math symbols
Mathematical notation is a language of its own, and Unicode encodes it in layers: the core operators (× ÷ ± ≤ ≥ ≠), the relations and arrows of logic, and the large operators that structure a formula.
The confusables are famous: the minus sign (−) is not a hyphen, the multiplication sign (×) is not the letter x, and 'not equal' (≠) is a single character, not an equals sign with a slash typed over it — each pair pastes and searches differently.
