About cross symbols
The cross is one of the oldest marks in writing, and its commonest everyday forms are not religious at all: the dagger (†) marks a footnote or an obsolete entry, and the double dagger (‡) is the second note on a page. The religious forms are a family of their own — Latin, Greek, Orthodox, Lorraine — each shape its own character, with its own name and codepoint.
Confusables worth knowing: the dagger (†) looks like a small Latin cross but is a different character, and the multiplication sign (×) is not the letter x. The X-shaped marks also come in several weights that read very differently at small sizes. Every tile above copies its exact character, so what you paste is the symbol you tapped.
