About degree symbols
The degree sign (°) began as a small superscript circle marking rank and order, and now measures two different things: angles in geometry and temperature in weather. It follows the number directly, with no space: 45°, 21°C.
Celsius and Fahrenheit each have a single-character form (℃ ℉) that is not the same as typing ° followed by C or F — the single characters are the ones that survive copy-paste into systems expecting a unit, while the two-character form is what most style guides prefer in print.
